Brisingr

By Christopher Paolini

brisingr

Brisingr is the third book in the Inheritance Cycle, written by author Christopher Paolini. This book begins a few days after Eldest concludes. Eragon, Roran and Saphira travel to Helgrind. After saving Katrina, Roran proclaims his endless love for her and they return to the Varden. Eragon stays behind to kill the remaining Ra’zac.

Game of Love, Game of Life

When Eragon returns he finds out that Katrina is pregnant. He marries Roran and Katrina. After the wedding Nasuada orders Eragon to attend the fun and games at the elections of the new dwarf king. At the dwarf city in the Beor Mountains, Eragon becomes a target for assassination. The assassination attempt is a failure.

Practical Magic

After the coronation of the new dwarf king; Eragon and Saphira return to their private teacher in Ellesmera, to continue to learn magic spells and complete their training. Once in Ellesmèra, certain truths about Eragon’s heritage become known. The evil king Galbatorix’s source of seemingly infinite power and dark magic secrets are revealed.

Depth Perception

I feel that Brisingr is focused mainly on the politics of the various races in Alagaёsea. What I found was that, while there were important issues to be focusing on, the various races were focused mainly on their political and cultural issues and conflicts. Because of this mindless self indulgence, they were blinded to the bigger picture and the more important issues at hand.

For the Tropic of Freedom Books Finders Keepers:
What is it about the side that Eragon is on, that makes it easier for Galbatorix's empire to infiltrate it and cause chaos?
How does this attitude undermine what could be a very powerful synergy?

How often have you experienced something similar?
Either by creating dissonance among others, or by having others create dissonance for you?
