The Iliad of Homer

by Barbara Leonie Picard

the ilian of homer

The Iliad of Homer written by Barbara Leonie Picard, is based on a poem told by Homer, of the great spiritual battle between the masters of war of both Troy and Greece. 3000 years ago myths and legends were told in the form of poetry and song. And thus this is how the legend of the great battle was handed down through the ages.

The Art of War

The Iliad of Homer picks up from the quarrel over power and leadership between Agamemnon and Achilles. Paris has already kidnapped Helen and the Greeks are already at the gates of Troy. So here we pick-up in the Iliad of Homer from the events of the 10th year of the war and how this mindless self indulgence of power and egotism determines the events that follow. This book also illustrates the involvement of the Greek gods and goddesses in the outcome of this spiritual battle.

The Life Board Game

What struck me most in this book, was how we so willingly give up our power to the will of fate in the game of life. We tend to not take the initiative to become the masters at work in creating our own philosophy of life. Instead we allow our lives and our paths to be created by the will of others.

For the Tropic of Freedom Books Finders Keepers:
How do the characters in the story give up their power?
Do you believe in fate?
Will you make your own life happen or do you expect others to make it happen for you?

This is something to ponder from The Qabalistic Tarot by Robert Wang:

What is called “love”, particularly as it relates to Gods and religious systems, is often misunderstood. The misunderstanding has to do with the very nature of the Gods themselves. It has been said that “The Gods are the Creations of the Created… the Gods are emanations of the Group mind of Races; they are not emanations of Eheieh, the One and Eternal.”

The point here is that there are no Gods, save those potent forces which we have formed in our own image, to serve our needs. There is nothing but us. We are the above and the below of the Emerald Tablet. We are at once, the many and the One. We are all that is, though we draw our strength from the Divine Unmanifest which is not.

Thus, the manner in which we behave toward one another is of far greater import than is generally appreciated. The love of one’s fellow man, the love of God, any sexual relationship which is a psychic balance and, in fact, any balanced exchange of energy between individuals assists the race in the “Great Work” of returning to the Primal state from which it evolved. It is for this reason that the Netzach is described as a Sephira of polarities.
