The Double Helix
By James D. Watson

The Double Helix by James D. Watson, is an autobiographical account of the discovery of the double helix structure of DNA strands. Told in the first-person, James tells the story of the active endeavors demonstrated by him and 4 other scientists are in a race to discover the true structure of DNA. The absolute value of this discovery would eventually lead, to Watson and two other scientists, winning the Nobel Prize.
The Discovery Zone
Along the path of discovery and learning, the scientists come up with new and various science methods and techniques that are used in order to discover DNA’s true structure. Two of the methods and techniques used, are the x-ray crystallography and molecular models. According to the book, this was around the time when molecular models had just started being used in science. For the Tropic of Freedom Books Finders Keepers: As well as being an amazing story of discovery, this is also an incredible account of unbending intent. How does James demonstrate unbending intent? In terms of the context of the story, what does unbending intent make possible? An important question to ponder is, do genetics really inform who and what we become, or does our Higher-Self decide which genes to activate?
