The Prophet
By Kahlil Gibran

‘The Prophet’ is a brilliant introduction to Sufi books. Kahlil Gibran, the sufi poet, introduces simple parable stories and analogies in this little book of stories of wisdom. For those of you who have never read Sufi books or tales, this little spiritual travel guide book is a perfect introduction to Sufi mysticism.
Baby I Love Your Way
It is the way of the master, in Sufism, to tell stories and thus assist the listener to shift into a state of greater consciousness and clarity. The reason Gibran’s Prophet is a good beginners book in Sufi mysticism, is that the prophet sheds light on each of his famous parables. The moral or lesson in the parable of discovery and analogy is clearly stated. Unlike Rumi and other Sufi poets, Gibran offers these simple Sufi folktales in such a way that you can easily interpret them and implement them in the game of life.
Romancing the Prophet
This Sufi book is full of romantic ideas in its setting and its presentation. The book is full of unique teacher gifts without being completely like the bible parables. I first read this book when I was about 16. It was given to me by a one of the rebel girls I fancied at the time. I first decided to read it to impress her, but found that that agenda was soon overcome by a genuine interest and desire to read the book. For the Tropic of Freedom Books Finders Keepers: Take the time to read the Prophet. Pay special attention to the short stories you identify with most and then look at which short stories you resist the most. It is normally the stories of wisdom we most need to learn that we are most cynical about and resistant to.
