The Lascivious Lazarus Long

This best of science fiction books focuses on the time and space adventures of Lazarus Long, a man approaching the ripe old age of 23 centuries. In this piece of fantastic fiction, the universe is populated by an elite who are able to extend their life spans through strange quantum-theory-type rejuvenation. Lazarus Long is at the top of this elite. But instead of being a self-important old hierophant, he is a randy old buccaneer baron who is always looking for new planet quest to explore and discover. Not to mention new women of courage with whom to explore the wonders of fun, sex and love. For what is sex without love, or at least intimacy?

Of Talking Ships, Kilts and Other Anomalies

In this book you are introduced to Long’s intelligent space ships and computers who all possess temperaments of petulant and possessive women. You are taken through Lazarus Long’s many experiences as a civilization developer on strange and wonderful planets.

Long also gives descriptions of the varying fashions and styles worn on different planets. You are even given lessons on how to do legitimate and, sometimes, illegitimate business in the holographic universe. Then Heilein takes us into the wonderful world of time travel. Lazarus Long undertakes the adventure of a lifetime. He visits himself at the age of six.
